Inspect and Advise
The 'Inspect and Advise' is a key step in the repair process as it does not only give an overview of the stress the parts received but also provides mostly useful information to the root cause of the damage. This provides a presentation of similar damages in future.
Proven technologies
Having 30 years experience in fact finding and root cause analysis of production exposed thermocouples and oxygen probes thermo-control utilizes following technologies:
Visual Inspection
|
Light microscopy
|
Comparison measurements
|
Root cause analysis
|
Being a member of the "Kompeteceteam Werkstofftechnik" thermo-control has also access to other technologies such as:
SEM |
EDX Analysis |
Helium leak testing |
Metallographical investigation |
General workflow of the Inspect and Advise process
The rejected part is sent to the thermo-control facility along with and description of the error occurred or documented, if applicable. The received part will be inspected visually first to determine and document any form of mechanical damages or other material degradation. If no noticeable defect is found the part is going to be tested in the laboratory in order to reproduce the error as it is described by the customer. Usually the root cause is found if the error could be reproduced.
Based on the results of the fact finding a detailed inspection report is written in which a catalog of recommended steps/work steps is proposed to the customer. This inspection report should held as a basis of decision to future steps.
A copy of such an inspection report (it is in German available only) can be viewed here.
